Dice

So you're thinking about changing careers, but the job ads are full of jargon. At Dice, we know that it isn't easy to cut through the noise and get a sense of what a job will really entail. To help, we have launched a series of articles called "In the trenches with Dice," where members of the Dice community can share their real-life experiences in specific technology or engineering jobs.

Submit an article providing an insider's view of your tech or engineering job (or a tech or engineering job you've held recently). If we pick your career story, we'll publish it on our Web site and you'll win a $500 American Express Gift Cheque. See article guidelines below.

Good luck!

Article guidelines

Try to keep your story close to 800 words, and include the following info:
  • What do you do for a living? How does your tech or engineering job contribute to the success of your company, fit into the business world at large, etc?
  • Specifically, what do you do every day? What technologies do you use, and how do you use them? What skills are important? What's the level of expertise? (Assume your audience is familiar with technical terms.)
  • Are there any industry-specific issues that a newcomer should know about? What's the culture like in your industry?
  • Are there any tips or words of wisdom you can provide to someone looking to move to a similar position?
To read examples of the types of articles we are looking for, please read the "In the Trenches with Dice" articles.
